What does your company do and what is your role there…besides running the Facebook page of course?
Kiyonna is in the business of making curvy women LOOK and FEEL amazing. It’s not just a cookie cutter statement but a mantra our entire company of smart women sincerely and strongly believe in. We’re not going to just sell a dress but help a woman find THE dress that highlights her best features and makes her feel ridiculously confident.
My primary role is the caretaker of our Facebook and Twitter domains. This also involves being very active on the customer service end off of Facebook. One colleague calls me the Facebook Goddess and with my big ego, sometimes I believe this.
Other things that I do is manage our affiliate program as well as come up with other marketing content to be used for our blogs and website. And of course, to channel my secret desire to be an intern, I’ll do the occasional run to Starbucks or In-n-Out for everyone in the office.
Why does your company have a Facebook page?
How can our company NOT have a Facebook page? We are in the business of making curvy women LOOK and FEEL amazing and our styles are inspired by these women. Our Facebook page gives us the opportunity to connect with our muses. I cannot remember life before Facebook… Did we really just communicate with our customers/fans through snail mail, email and gasp… the phone??
What’s the most successful marketing program you have run using North Social apps on your page?
I love posting games on our page for our fans to play to win prizes. However, we did not have an efficient way to collect email addresses to notify winners nor a great way for them to submit answers secretly. The Sweepstakes App not only allowed us to quickly and easily launch a game but we were able to successfully garner email addresses to notify winners and also to notify non-winners (don’t like the word losers because there are none) with a cool coupon code. To keep our fans engaged, using the Sweeps app will allow us to easily and quickly launch a new game on a very achievable schedule.
Another very popular app was the Photo Showcase app which allowed us to create our Summer ’11 Lookbook. Looking at a Facebook album is one thing but being able to virtually flip through a catalog is another.
What other companies do you admire for what they’re doing on Facebook?
I love looking to BCBG because they every so often post great quotes about life that is non-retail oriented. Who wants to subscribe to a feed to only be inundated with ads and promotions? I think it’s important to also connect with our fans without having that strong sales/marketing push. We love and respect our fans and want to provide them with interesting content and so we love to highlight various charities we’ve worked with or acknowledge birthdays of notable individuals like Coco Chanel or Nelson Mandela. Plus BCBG does a “Look of the Day” pic on a real person (versus the 5’10″, leggy perfect complexioned skin model) as well as occasionally posting pics that their fans send in. Models are great, but being able to see a garment on a REAL person as to how it will actually fit is ten times more powerful.
If you could offer one key to success (big or small) to fellow page admins, what would it be?
One? What about a twofer? I’d say… Be genuine in what you put out there and don’t ignore your fans. If a customer walks into your store and asks you a question, you wouldn’t just ignore them and walk away. If someone compliments on your nice shirt, you wouldn’t remain mute and stare at them. Same thing applies to Facebook. I do my best to respond to all questions/concerns/praise/criticism within 24 hours and I don’t write like an automated robot. So yes, this does entail our fans being subjected to my OMGs, LOLs and smiley emoticons. Being that I usually either have a smart phone in hand, ipad nearby or computer screen in front of my eyeballs, I can respond to comments usually within 8 hours.
What apps are you using?
Video Channel, Photo Showcase, First Impression, and Twitter Feed are current fixtures on our page. We just finished up using the Sweeps app to run a quick game for our fans to win one of our styles. This week, we’re going to be getting the Donate app up and running to raise funds for kids in our area to buy school supplies.
We also have Show & Sell but to be honest, I haven’t fully leveraged this app. I would love to able to launch multiple Photo Showcase apps concurrently one day.
