The following post is part of an ongoing blog mini-series titled: Without A Strong Brand, You Ain’t Got Jack So…cial! A Dozen Rules For Attracting & Keeping Your Social Consumer.

Rule #11 – Create A Signature Move
Earlier I mentioned using a few simple ideas to maximize your Facebook profile pic. This is an example of a what I call a signature move.
Do you have one for your brand? You should. These basic but memorable tactics are some of the best ways to build momentum for your brand. And the best part? You won’t have to rip off a piece of your clothing to earn applause.
One example of a well-executed signature move is by the retail cupcake chain Sprinkles. Every day they socialize a password on Twitter and their Facebook Page. Example, “the first 25 people to whisper “monkey” at a Sprinkles location receive a free banana cupcake. This has translated into 290,000+ fans on Facebook and 63,000 followers on Twitter. Not bad for a small business, eh?
Remember the old game where you guess how many jellybeans are in the jar promotion? Person that is the closest, wins the entire jar?
An offline concept like this could be activated in a number of ways. If you run social media for a copy and shipping store, you could do a “guess my weight” contest, where you show a packed box and then show the box on the scale. Or show the packing peanuts in a box and have people guess how many.
Signature moves don’t need to be complex. Don’t over-think it. Have you read our new feature where we highlight a North Social Page Admin of The Week? Yep, a signature move.
Just make sure your version fits with your brand, is participant-friendly, and easy to follow along.
What are you waiting for?
Rile up a crowd. Make the Hulkster proud.
