Leland Yee for State Senate: The Yee campaign launched a TV commercial last week and is using our “Sign Up” tab as a petition to collect emails addresses around stopping budgets cuts in Sacramento to local district schools.
The mid-term elections are coming up in five weeks. If you live in California this means two very important things:
• You better have a good persuasion and GoTV strategy for your Facebook page.
• You only have 35 more days of Meg Whitman ads to watch…
Over 15 million people in California over the age of 18 are on Facebook. To put that number in perspective, the LA media market has approximately 15 million people, total.
That means there are more voting age members of Facebook in California than there are in the LA media market. Crazy, right? The average Facebook user has over 130 friends and spends 14 minutes a day on the site – more than the time on site per day for Google, Yahoo, Youtube, Microsoft, Wikipedia and Amazon – combined.
According to a Tulchin research survey conducted this spring, 41% of likely voters in CA use Facebook. 16% use it everyday. And among voters under 40 – more people have a Facebook page than cable TV. A whopping 53% of independents use Facebook, 41% of Democrats. 57% of users get news and political information from Facebook – 40% forward it to friends.
There is still plenty of time if you are working for a campaign to trick out your Facebook page using North Social tabs (you knew that was coming) . The North Social tabs can be used for GoTV, persuasion, integrating the campaign store into your Facebook page, highlighting your TV spots, sign ups, volunteering, downloads and more.

Yes on Prop 19 – This is a great use of our “Shop” tab to integrate their online store into their Facebook page so their almost 200,000 fans can buy the “Yes We Cannabis” shirts right off Facebook.
Here are some of the best examples of campaigns using North Social custom tab applications to make the most of their Facebook community heading into the election:

Kamala Harris for Attorney General – The Harris campaign has done a great job using our “Share This” tab as a GoTV / persuasion tool for their fans to show their support, enabling her fans to post a “I’m voting for Kamala Harris” message to their profiles with one click.
Leland Yee or State Senate (photo above) – The Yee campaign launched a TV commercial last week and is using our “Sign Up” tab as a petition to collect emails addresses around stopping budgets cuts in Sacramento to local district schools.
Queen Meg – The California Nurses spoof campaign has used our “Document Tab” and “Showcase” tab to highlight the “Royal Decrees” Queen Meg and incorporate a power point like slide show into their Facebook page.
You’ve spent all that time getting fans onto your Facebook page. With 5 weeks to go – now is the time to put them to work. There is no better messenger in marketing than a trusted friend. Give those thousands of people on your page the tools to talk to their friends on your behalf with those 14 minutes a day.
You would certainly do it if you were on TV in LA….
